Safety & Regulations

At the Private Birth Centre our number one concern is the safety and well being of you and your baby.

Midwives in the UK undergo the most rigorous and thorough training in the world. Once qualified, midwives are accountable for their practice and subjected to an in depth system of practice scrutiny.

Each midwife has regular supervisory input which ensures that skills are updated, study days are attended and that records are kept appropriately. The assigned Supervisor of Midwives (SoM) also makes checks on equipment, drugs, ongoing education, documentation and our premises.

The Private Birth Centre is also subject to spot checks from the SoM to ensure that our service maintains a standard of excellence. We are registered with The Care Quality Commission (CQC); this means regular inspection for compliance to health and safety, hygiene, fire and infection control regulations.

All of these safeguards are essential as they protect the interests of every woman we care for and every midwife who is employed at the centre.
