Midwifery Packages
Initial Consultation:
Come along to the Private Birth Centre and meet with one or some of our midwives. You are assured of a warm welcome. Take the opportunity to look at our facilities, to chat with our staff, to see what’s on offer and of course to ask any questions and to discuss your personal requirements. An initial consultation can be facilitated at your home, your place of work or at the centre. Appointments can be arranged for evenings or weekends.

• Building confidence with newborn behaviour
• Support and guidance with natural feeding
• Support and tips on recovering from the birth
• Coping as a new family
• Introduction to complementary therapies
• Returning to work
Examination of the Newborn:
Every newborn baby should have a thorough examination shortly after birth to establish that they are adapting well to life ‘on the outside’. This ‘newborn examination’ is more in depth than that normally carried out by a midwife and would usually be performed by your GP or a paediatrician in the hospital. The examination involves a general check over, like counting fingers and toes and looking for skin marks but it also involves listening to the heart and examining the eyes and hips; any family history of congenital (from birth) problems is also taken into account.
An appropriate midwife, who is qualified and experienced in this examination, will carry out the assessment of your baby. We are happy to offer this extra service to your family. You can decide at the time of booking or after your baby’s birth if you would like us to examine your baby.
Please note, this is available as a ‘stand alone’ service. We are happy to offer this service to women who have had NHS support through their pregnancy and birth. This service is ideal for those women wishing to take an early discharge from hospital.
